Engagement Pictures on Lake Michigan

Cassie and Johnny both radiate so much joy and laughter anywhere they go. These engagement pictures taken on Lake Michigan made for some incredibly fun memories that the they will look back on forever. I always love shooting anywhere on the great lakes because of the beautiful scenery all around. The crashing waves, the greenery, and the warm sand creates the perfect setting for your engagement pictures. Hearing all about Cassie and Johnny's story and bringing it to life through these photos was so fun! Let's dive into what makes their love story so unique.

When Sparks Turn Into a Summer Romance

This sweet couple met during junior year of high school at a confirmation retreat back in the winter of 2013. They truly are best friends and are constantly joking around and making each other laugh. It is clear they have an overflow of love for one another. On the 4th of July that next summer, Cassie went to Summerfest for the first time to see a concert. As she was walking through the crowd, out of the corner of her eye she saw Johnny with a group of guys waving their arms from on top of a picnic table. They spent the rest of the night walking around and running into every single person Johnny knows, got ice cream, rode on the Sky Glider, and watched Timeflies perform. What started as a spark that night at the concert turned into a summer-long romance. Johnny eventually worked up the nerve to ask Cassie out right before the start of their senior year. They've been together ever since and they can't wait to get married, how sweet!

The Story Behind The Engagement Pictures: The Proposal

This past summer, Johnny and Cassie were celebrating their 8-year anniversary. They decided to go to Door County to celebrate. On the way, they were singing all of their favorite songs, and had brunch at Al Johnson’s. Afterward, they made their way over to a park right down the road. The park was gorgeous, with beautiful blue waves crashing against the white sand and cliffs. It was the perfect setting for a proposal. They took a couple of pictures together and Johnny told Cassie he wanted one of her by herself. He started to take a few and slowly moved lower and lower until he was kneeling and said something along the lines of “this is nice but I think it’s missing something.” He pulled out the ring and the happy tears followed shortly. Cassie describes it as "the easiest “yes” of my entire life."

Shortly after, Johnny surprised Cassie with their family to join in on the big moment that had just transpired. Later than night, they headed to a winery to all celebrate together. The rest of the night was filled with great food, lots of drinks, and even some karaoke bar action. It was the absolute perfect day and it meant the world to Cassie and Johnny that they got to celebrate it with their loving families.
